KFC Sweets Review - California

Summary: Smells like a barn.  Definitely an infused cigar.  I’m getting maple syrup, berries, and sweet-n-low.  Frosted Flakes.  Not having a great time right now.

Into the second third, the sweetness is more musky.  The aftertaste is a bit bitter which is annoying.

Final third is pretty much the same with added vegetal notes.  The sweetness is getting more perfume-y at the finish.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: Picking roses and then falling into the bush.

Pairing Suggestion: An AMF.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Single.

Blind Cigar Reviews: KFC Sweets

KFC Sweets Review - Wisconsin

Summary: I had a pretty strong hint that this week's cigar would be unique when it came in its own bag with instructions to keep it that way. Taking it out of the bag, I was greeted with strong aromas of campfire and hickory. A cold draw left sweet artificial smokiness on my lips. I've met this style of cigar before, and I didn't love it then. Let's see how it does now.

The flavors included campfire, hickory, artificial sweetness, oak, creaminess, earthiness, and some savory meatiness. Those flavors basically stayed throughout the entirety of the cigar, not changing.

While the flavors aren't my cup of tea, the construction was very good. It needed no attention to keep burning perfectly, and smoke practically billowed from it.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: Sitting around the campfire with friends

Pairing Suggestion: Bourbon

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Single. But worth trying one at some point to see if this is a style of cigar you like. You've got to burn to learn.

KFC Sweets Review - Oregon

Summary: My cigar had a dark brown wrapper, was firmly packed with about a two millimeter hole in the wrapper one inch below the cap.   The wrapper smells like charcoal, hickory and beef jerky.  The cold draw is a tad loose and the wrapper left a little sweetness on the tongue.  Pre-light flavors were campfire smoke and more campfire smoke...followed by sweet campfire smoke.

Smoky wood and smoky tobacco were the initial notes followed by some sweetness on the lips. The room smoke was exceedingly sweet.  Is it fair to reveal I knew what this was before I even torched it!?  It was too “unique” to mistake.  To its credit, it produced a ton of smoke and the first third burned perfectly.

By the middle of the cigar some of the smokiness had backed off and I was left with just some charred wood notes and natural tobacco.  Still, smoke just poured from the cigar and the burn was perfect.

Towards the end of the cigar things became a little harsh with the smokiness and tobacco notes taking on a little bitterness.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: If you like this you probably like sitting far too close to the bed of coals at the fire pit.

Pairing Suggestion: Pair this with a stout that has some sweetness to it.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Single stick purchase.

Participants in this blind review were completely unaware of the cigar they were evaluating until all submissions were received and processed. Each participant was asked to answer a summary paragraph, an if/than statement, a pairing suggestion, and a purchase suggestion. Cigars were provided by Small Batch with only the expectations of candid responses. All pictures, information, and formatting were completed by a Coordinator outside of the reviewing process.
