CALDWELL MARBLE HOUSE REVIEW – CALIFORNIA

Summary:  The cold draw is giving me a perfect amount of resistance and no distinguishable flavors.  Roses on the palate and pepper on the retro hale.  Interestingly, the smoke coming off the foot is pleasant, making this a fine "outdoor cafe" smoke if you live in Europe and are privy to that kind of freedom.

Starting the second third, there's a hot, wheat cereal sweetness that really brings a nice balance between the floral and spice notes (note: I add brown sugar to my hot cereal).  Aaaaaaaaand guava out of nowhere.  Just for a second though.  Huh.

Predominantly floral notes in the final third.  Good stuff.

CALDWELL MARBLE HOUSE REVIEW – WISCONSIN

Summary:  Today we have a cigar with a pigtail cap that brings flavors of chocolate, nuts, caramel, cedar, creaminess, hay, and cherry. The cedar note grew throughout the cigar.

Construction-wise, I’m given little to complain about. The draw and burn are both on point.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Reading the newspaper with coffee and a smoke.

Pairing Suggestion:  Coffee.

Blind Cigar Reviews at Small Batch Cigar

CALDWELL MARBLE HOUSE REVIEW – OREGON

Summary:  This is a slender, petite sample this week.  The mottled red-brown wrapper has some very minor imperfections in color and a nice tucked away pigtail cap.  Fresh oak and barnyard off the wrapper.  Baking spice and dry hay from the foot.

Instantly I taste some creamy, caramelized sugar, charred wood with a hint of bitterness, red pepper flake, a fleeting citrus note finishing with a lingering mild tobacco flavor. Nearly as soon as I complete typing the above profile, the cigar is out.  It has a very uneven burn as well.  Some butane and artistic touch up work and we're up and running again.

Cigar is out for a second time in the first third.  Pass the butane please.  When this cigar is burning correctly, it has some enjoyable moments. Between those enjoyable moments you’re just looking for a lighter.

Moving along with strong notes of leather, orange slices, tobacco, red pepper flake and just a hint of baking spice. Still having issues with burn line and keeping it lit.

Numerous relights into the final third and the flavors are suffering greatly with an overall bitterness... no doubt thanks to the torch.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Hitting your good thumb with a hammer.

Pairing Suggestion:  A double of anything.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  Single.

Participants in this blind review were completely unaware of the cigar they were evaluating until all submissions were received and processed. Each participant was asked to answer a summary paragraph, an if/than statement, a pairing suggestion, and a purchase suggestion. Cigars were provided by Small Batch with only the expectations of candid responses. All pictures, information, and formatting were completed by a Coordinator outside of the reviewing process.
