Happy Thursday, folks!
Last night, Black Label Trading Company’s allotment of Bishops Blend dropped on Small Batch and it got me thinking:
What’s your favorite cigar or package design?

Without a doubt, Bishops Blend is a beautiful sight to behold from Oveja Negra. It’s bold, gritty, and something that I want in my humidor ASAP. Here are a few more pics from Small Batch:
I’m a sucker for interesting boxes, and this one always catches my eye. James Brown definitely knows how to stop me in my tracks.
And then there’s Davidoff’s Sir Winston Churchill LE 2019 The Traveller. I haven’t been able to open this box in person yet, but I’ve been working through my 3-pack lately and it’s hitting all the right notes for me.
The complete package, however, is what compelled me to splurge for the box. Take a look:
I love the detail on both the inside and outside of the box. Davidoff seemed to convey quite a bit while maintaining a minimalist approach. And, while the first things that drew me to the box were the hinges and clasp, I’m very much curious about the cedar tray that allows space for a Boveda pack. If it turns out that these boxes hold a seal, it’ll be a huge win for a united fashion and function philosophy.
And, of course, I'll never forget when I opened a new box of Serino Royale Medios to find that they began implementing the magnetic lid. Something so simple put such a large smile on my face.

Nothing like cutting the seal and looking at a wheel of cigar bands perfectly oriented up towards you with a silk ribbon tying them together. That plus the raw Spanish cedar and tobacco smell is unmatched by anything.
Pretty neat to see respect to tradition paid by the likes of Pete Johnson of Tatuaje and Kyle Gellis of Warped. Many of their cigars come in SLB’s with similar label placement and design. Plus they date stamp as well. Love it.
