Father’s Day: A Reflection of Cigars That Remind us of Dads

Father’s Day: A Reflection of Cigars That Remind us of Dads

Strong and Silent Type: RoMa Craft CroMagnon

This cigar reminds us of all the Dads out there that always get the job done, and done right the first time.  They’re consistent, persistent, and we’ll probably never know about all the sacrifices they make because they refuse to talk about it.

Father's Day Cigars: RoMa Craft Knuckle Dragger

RoMa Craft produces arguably the most consistent line of boutique cigars on the planet.  Aside from their Craft series, you won’t see a lot of fancy pants box designs nor will you see several bands or ribbons covering their cigars.  But inside lounges all across America, you’ll find the Weasel Team enjoying RoMa Craft for their dependable construction and commanding flavors.

Tough but Fair: Dunbarton Todos Las Dias

Todos Los Dias is tough when it has to be, assertive where it’s meant to be, and yet never crosses the line.  This cigar reminds us of the Dads that choose honesty over affirmation, independence instead of ribbons, and never pass up a chance to teach a life lesson.

Fathers Day Cigars: Dunbarton Todos Los Dias Half Churchill

This cigar may teach you things about yourself through failure if you’re not used to strong cigars, or it may open your eyes to the wonderful possibilities of flavor and strength from the palate of an expert.  And much like tough dads, you may not fully appreciate Todos Los Dias the first time around.  But, when you find yourself reaching for it more and more, you’ll recognize the strength of character and invaluable experience under the hood.

Age is Just a Number: Lost & Found Superstroke

We all know those Dads that exhibit a youthful exuberance and a child-like ability to always make the most of every situation.  They’re fun, playful, and seem to draw their energy from an invisible well that refuses to be affected by time and age.

Fathers Day Cigars: Lost & Found Superstroke

Superstroke reminds us of these dads by the packaging, the gregarious personality of Matt Booth, and the selection process of Lost & Found.  Rather than bend to the tests of time and lose their glory, these cigars rise out of forgotten factory racks dressed in carefree bundles that promise an exhilarating experience.

The Sage: My Father La Opulencia

Carefully combining the traditions of the past with the knowledge of the present, La Opulencia reminds us of the Dads that always have the answer to life’s problems.  These Dads speak with wisdom beyond their years, always knowing the right thing to say even when it means saying nothing at all.

Fathers Day Cigars: My Father La Opulencia

La Opulencia represents the combined knowledge Jaime and Don Pepin Garcia, two generations of cigar excellence.  And when it comes to excellence, there aren’t many that can rival this father-son duo.  Smoking La Opulencia has the tendency to make the cigar enthusiast ponder life, and feel adequately equipped to handle everything that comes their way.  It’s the type of confidence that only exceptional cigars can instill, and the type of cigars that My Father excels at creating.

One Man Band: Warped Maestro del Tiempo

Lastly, there’s the Dad that doesn’t march to the beat of anyone else’s drum. He creates his own tune and follows his own path.  It’s not always about just being different for these Dads, it’s about owning their destiny and allowing themselves to be whoever they want to be.

Fathers Day Cigars: Warped Maestro del Tiempo

From the motto of, “Be Exclusively Different,” to the memorable bands, to the flavor profile of the Maestro del Tiempo, Warped reminds us of these creative spirits.  Maestro del Tiempo communicates whimsy with a healthy dose of charm, plays strength against vulnerability, and smokes like an old soul had an original idea.

Tat TAA 2015. First cigar I smoked around my dad that he commented he enjoyed the aroma of and started asking questions about the story behind it. Memorable evening.

For me, it's always the CAO Brazilia - my Dad smoked them and it's the one brand that no matter what one thinks of CAO currently, they seem to chime in "those Brazilia are super good though." I was always too worried about the strength to smoke them, but now it's no issue. Funny how those things change.

This morning I got to spend time with him, and we smoked Perdomo 10th Anny Champagne - he had the Sun Grown and I smoked the CT. Always a great way to spend a Sunday morning; cigars and coffee - but especially on Father's Day with my Dad.

Happy Father's Day to all the Father's and Sons out there! Long Ashes, BOTL.

Until just a few years ago it was the Le Bijou 1922.  Since my Father’s passing (on Father’s Day 2015) Las Calaveras has sadly taken that place.  I’ll smoke one today to remember and honor him.

This is my first fathers day, my son is 7 months old, and it has been awesome. My father never smoked cigars (he says they smell like turds lol) but my grandfather used to smoke Montecristos, so that was my first cigar I ever had, and always remind me of him. Happy father's day to everyone!

My father introduced me to cigar smoking. Being from the Midwest, he wasn't a tough man to please. He was humble and appreciated everything around him especially my mom. Sadly he passed in 2010.  Last fall I was lucky enough to travel to Cuba and purchased a Romeo y Julieta for him.  He loved these cigars and i always wondered if it had to do with his love for my mom as well.   I visited his grave which is in a small rural cemetery in Nebraska and left a Romeo for him. I know he was laughing for two reasons, one being that I left a perfectly good cigar unsmoked and the second knowing it was the first Cuban cigar to ever have been in the cemetery.  This evening I'll be smoking a cigar in his honor. I love you Dad.  -- Charlie

Acid Blonde is the cigar that reminds me of my Dad the most. It was the cigar that got him back into smoking.

The cigar that reminds me of my father is the backdoor Bambi because he was always leaving out the back door and not returning for years at a time

There are so many cigars that remind me of my dad. I think the Tatuaje Old Man and the C may most closely represent him. Understated, strong, smooth, approachable, willing to share with anyone but always kept the best for himself.

My dad reminds me of the Warped Corto X50. He is the perfect blend of quality time and efficiency.

He always made time for us growing up out of his busy schedule as a single dad, but he also packed as much action as possible into every conversation, home project, and adventure.

Just like the Corto, he excels at making the short amount of time we spend together full of character building robustness.

Montecristo No.4 was the first smoke I shared with dad. Reminds me of him every time.

I first smoked a cigar with my old man in the Dominican Republic while there on vacation. Since then we try and smoke a Fuente together once a year.

If my Dad was a cigar he would be an Atabey. Something unique and quite rare in the cigar world, as well as the real world. He is man unwavering in his beliefs, full of character, a family man, truly a classic. Like the cigar, he is sophisticated and brings more to the table than meets the eye. There is an appeal to his swagger and cool charisma that doesn’t sacrifice integrity and honesty. My Dad is the greatest man I know, my hero, and like the Atabey, is #1.

My Dad does not smoke cigars but his best friend smoked mostly Padrons. To this day it's the only brand he has ever tried and knows about. When he sees me smoking he'll ask if I'm smoking that brand.  While I don't smoke as may Padrons as I use to (due to discovering many great new brands) it still remains a favorite of mine. My Dad is hard working, humble, strong and reliable, which I attribute to Padron as well.
