Protect Your Tubos From Mold

Protect Your Tubos From Mold

If you're like me, you love a good Tubo! These are usually aluminum tubes that protect our cigars from all sorts of damage with the added benefit that they're visually stunning. The downside is that some tubos actually encourage mold growth due to a wood lining surrounding the cigar.

To protect yourself, simply remove the wood spill from your tubos before placing them in your humidors. This will save you tons of headaches in the future and make sure you can enjoy your cigars.

Wow, thanks for that tip. I had no idea those thin wood sheaths could cause mold. I DO know that they're not very effectively used as a spill to light my cigars, though.

Great point, Jason! Not very helpful at all in lighting compared to a true cedar spill.

I suppose in the perfect conditions with temperature control and lower humidity, a wooden sheath might have an added benefit of imparting flavor to the cigar. I think it's a case of a brilliant idea with subpar execution
