BLIND Crowned Heads Las Calaveras 2019 Review

LAS CALAVERAS 2019 REVIEW – CALIFORNIA

Summary:  Draw is spot on for me and the first few puffs offer red pepper and bark.  I'm getting some cream and mango sweetness as I touch up the burn a bit.  Mesquite and chocolate (where is this thing going?).

The ash and burn are shifty leading into the second third.  Still getting a unique assortment of tropical fruit, chocolate, and mesquite.

Entering the final third, the flavors are less pronounced.  The burn is getting wonky as baking spices liven things up.  Went out with a little over an inch left.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Pie for breakfast.

Pairing Suggestion:  Lager.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  Fiver.

Blind Cigar Reviews: Las Calaveras 2019

LAS CALAVERAS 2019 REVIEW – WISCONSIN

Summary:  I have a lot of good things to say about this cigar, but let's start with this: if you're an ash man, this cigar has an ash you won't forget any time soon. It's a perfect ash.

It started with flavors of sweet cereal grains, earth, nuts, and just a touch of pepper tingle on the end. As it progressed, it added more oak. Throughout, there were little pops of citrus, floral, coffee, and chocolate. The sweetness held all the notes together beautifully.

The draw was on the snug side, but certainly no issue. The burn was perfect throughout, and the ash was impeccable. With excellent construction and interesting flavors throughout, I'm excited to find out what this was so I can buy some.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Effortless and enjoyable smoking experiences.

Pairing Suggestion:  Coffee.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  Box.

Blind Cigar Reviews at Small Batch Cigar

LAS CALAVERAS 2019 REVIEW – OREGON

Summary:  Robusto... barnyard in the wrapper, cornflakes in the cold draw.  There’s also an interesting mix of rich tobacco and dark fruit notes at the foot.  None of this sounds bad so let’s get hot.

Starting with dark notes.  Charred pork, charred wood, darkly toasted rye bread and a hint of hickory hiding in the retro hale.

Heading into the middle of this smoke I can only say this is what I imagine root beer would taste like without any sweetness.  It’s not bad... it wants to be better but isn’t.  In the retro hale there is a touch of sweetness, but it is fleeting.

Final third is offering more nicotine and a bit of bitterness unfortunately.  I try not to purge cigars, but I’m tempted with this one. With about an inch or so left, I clean it out and see what happens... back to the no-sugar root beer flavor. Add in some walnut, charred wood and even a bit of fresh parsley!

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Leafing through your collection of vinyl.

Pairing Suggestion:  Bourbon... Bookers.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  5 pack.
