CHOGUI DOS77 2022 REVIEW – DOM

Summary: This cigar starts with a dry, campfire woodiness to it.   Standing out more than the flavors is a buttery texture that the smoke leaves on my palate.  Chocolate ice cream and oak barrel have my sweet tooth and liver tooth tingling.  On the retro hale, pepper spice is almost nonexistent, making it approachable for the “anti-retroers” among us. To me, this cigar has mass appeal; it’s an any time of day smoke that doesn’t put itself in a corner flavor-wise.  White pepper and more oak cordially shake my hand as we bid each other adieu.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: Freshly painted white fences.

Pairing Suggestion: Café au lait.

Perceived Strength: Mild-Medium.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: 5-pack.

CHOGUI DOS77 2022 REVIEW – RICH

Summary: This cigar starts off with vegetal, mineral, and cedar notes, then adds dankness, earth, leather, salt, and almond. It was not a profile that I enjoyed.

Construction-wise, the draw was on the loose side. The burn didn't give me any trouble.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: Eating from a trough.

Pairing Suggestion: Brandy.

Perceived Strength: Medium+

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Single.

CHOGUI DOS77 2022 REVIEW – BEN

Summary: This really got me thinking here... 'does the wrapper appearance determine the outcome of your cigar purchase?' Because this cigar appears a tad bit dusty and dry and a little discolored but nonetheless, let's dig in!

Started off creamy with billows of almond-like smoke followed by a hint of milk chocolate and cedar once it all settles. After the halfway mark, a beat of citrus and nice baking spices on the retro hale. No frills or thrills but definitely a dependable smoke if you find yourself in a crowded room.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: Something sweet.

Pairing Suggestion: Vanilla cream cold brew.

Perceived Strength: Medium.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: 5-pack.

CHOGUI DOS77 2022 REVIEW – TED

Summary: I am so ready for a cigar. Nice easy cold draw; good resistance. This stick is firmly rolled.

Lemongrass, walnut, salted sesame crackers in the front with a retro hale mixture of salt, leather and coffee sprinkled with cocoa. A lot of salt and citrus for me. A bit further I’m finding a more mellow profile of citrus and leather with a creamier wood and coffee flavor in the finish.

Midway flavors featuring lots of fresh wood flavors and walnut with a salty and slightly sweet mixture of toasted bread and coffee. The whole profile is a little too citrusy and bitter for me. Also, while the construction seems spot on, the smoke is light and wispy and I rather prefer dense and plentiful.

Back end of this smoke is a less salty mixture of bold wood notes and nuts along with an earthy combo of coffee and leather. This last section is definitely producing more smoke, but, this cigar just isn’t in my wheelhouse.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: Anchovy Pizza.

Pairing Suggestion: Water.

Perceived Strength: Medium.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Single.
