Discussion Contest: Favorite Cigar for $6 or Less?

Discussion Contest: Favorite Cigar for $6 or Less?

Happy Monday, folks!

We talk a lot about cigars of all shapes and sizes, but rarely about their humble or proud retail prices. Given that there are tons of amazing options north of $10, I wanted to focus today on cigars that you enjoy around the $6 mark.

What are your favorite cigars at or under $6?

Tell us about your favorite value cigar for a chance to win a Small Batch gift card this Sunday!

JSK Toothpick 2.0 Maduro

I’d be remiss if I didn’t start off by talking about the Jas Sum Kral Toothpick 2.0 Maduro. I knew as soon as I burned through a fiver of these in less than a week that it was something special. Later, that was confirmed by our Blind Review Panel by receiving two Box Recommendations from two gentlemen that don’t always agree. The bottom line is that this cigar is as unique as Riste himself and definitely a contender for your humidor.

Crowned Heads Juarez

My second favorite is the Crowned Heads’ Juarez produced at Tabacalera Pichardo. Juarez was my first introduction to this factory, and a killer intro to their Reserva and Clasico lines. As we discussed previously in our Cigar of the Week, “I often tell our crew in the Virtual Lounge that it’s my favorite third or fourth cigar in existence, and I mean that as a compliment to the Crowned Heads team!  This cigar is like an athlete that can play every position, determined to shine wherever they fall in the rotation.”

What about you? Very curious to hear about your favorite value cigars below.

My favorite “budget” stick is the Umbagog. But for $6 or less I might have to go for the Room 101 Big Payback Maduro. Honorable mention would be the Charter Oak Broadleaf, another great cigar for the price.

My absolute fav budget stick is the Xhaxhi Bobi - Boba Jan.
The little powerhouse is blended by Hendrick Kelner of Davidoff fame, is packed way more than you would expect for the size and easily lasts 45 - 60 minutes.
Never had burn issues, and it punches WELL above it's $5.49 a stick price point.

Charter Oak Broadleaf Petite Corona

I know you said it already, but I really would have to go with the Juarez from Crowned Heads. It's just such a damn solid smoke. In fact, I've found myself picking that one over several other much more expensive cigars from time to time.

AJ for me - Last Call, then New World Cameroon.

Illusione Rothschild all day every day. That cigar should cost more.
5/10/2021 8:31 PM
Foundation's Charter Oak Broadleaf in Rothschild

Illusione has this category locked down for me with their rothchildes and la grande classe cigars. Both are deliver a wonderfully satisfying medium-bodied smoke.

Foundation Charter Oak Habano. I thought the Connecticut was good, but needed a bit more “oomph.” The Habano hits the mail right on the head. Medium-body, medium-full flavor, and surprising quality for such a budget-friendly cigar!

Aladino vintage and the Crowned Heads Juarez. Both are great.

Cain 550

Blackworks Studios Rorschach for me.

Thanks for the post! Being new to the hobby I love hearing everyone's favorites! Just like a good Tequila or Gin I'm find spending top shelf money for a great bottle, but always love finding those diamonds in the rough for under $10.

Well the 6.00 range can depend by state, But i fall back on these.
La aroma de cuba
Custa del ray
Caldwell blind mans bluff.
5/11/2021 10:55 PM
Oh and i forgot to include in my post.
Drew estates factory sweets
5/12/2021 7:42 AM
My two favorites are the Charter Oak Habano and the Xhaxhi Bobi Mi Hermano.
5/12/2021 8:27 AM
There are so many great options in this price range! I have a couple favorites. Aladino vintage, illusione rothchildes, Juarez and of course the charter oak Broadleaf and habano. They are all home runs in value!
5/12/2021 9:32 AM
In no particular order: Charter Oak Broadleaf, Illusione Rothschild, Last Call Habano
5/12/2021 8:26 PM
JRE Aladino Petit Corona, the aladino is one of my favorites in all sizes and since we are picking under the six dollar mark I’ll have to go with the petit.
5/13/2021 12:21 PM
If I'm limiting myself to $6, I'm going to take a combination of Padrón Classic Maduro Delicias (4.9x46) & Tatuaje Black Label petite coronas (4x40).
5/14/2021 3:56 AM
I first picked up Liga Privada's Nasty Fritas because I thought the shape was so interesting. I didn't expect it to be one of the best cigars I've ever had. I'm still relatively new to cigars, but this is the first cigar I've bought more than a few times. I will say my experience with them has been inconsistent, ranging from great to pretty ok, to twice getting some wicked tar that ruined the event.

For me it's the Sancho Panza double maduro line -- rich but not strong, dark but not bitter, they're the cigar equivalent of Guinness Stout.

Honorable mention to the Room 101 Big Payback with the Ecuador Connecticut wrapper, 5x50 vitola. (I haven't tried the re-release, though)
5/15/2021 5:28 AM
Foundation Charter Oak Broadleaf
Warped Cloud Hopper #53
JC Newman Brickhouse CT
5/15/2021 1:18 PM
My top choices under $6 would be the: Aladino Vintage, Foundation Charter Oak Habano and the Crowned Heads Juarez. The $8 to $10 range tends to be the majority of my purchases and wish there were more cigars under the $6 mark.

Really enjoy a New World Cameroon
