Discussion: Does Your Significant Other Also Smoke Cigars?

Happy Tuesday, folks! 

As we gathered around the smoke pit this past weekend, a coworker brought up the topic of our significant others and posed the question as to whether or not they also smoke.  

Come to think of it, I don’t believe we’ve ever talked about that here!  Which brings me to today’s discussion contest question: 

Does your significant other also smoke cigars?

My wife doesn’t smoke, although I asked her to keep a cigar lit for me once while playing with the kids at the beach.  She did keep it lit like a champ, but I could see in her eyes upon my return that she questioned why I enjoyed this particular hobby.  If I had just planned that a little better, I might could’ve picked something that had a better chance at piquing her interest.  

If your boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, better half also smokes cigars, I’ve got questions for ya! 

  • Do they smoke what you smoke, or have a completely different preference? 
  • Does it affect your purchasing decisions? 
  • Does one of you smoke way more often than the other? 
  • What was the last thing you smoked together? 
  • What is his or her favorite smoke? 
  • If they don't smoke cigars with you, what do they think of your hobby?

Mine does not smoke and is not a big fan of me smoking, but she understands that it's a way for me to relax. Although, whenever more cigars arrive at the house she always exclaims "Don't you have enough already?" haha!

Once in a blue moon. I find that she's even better than me at picking up tasting notes. She does prefer a Connecticut shade wrapper, so she'll have a smoke and a coffee with me some mornings.

My wife likes to try the cigars I’m smoking, but she’s only smoked about half of one herself. She doesn’t have an issue with the hobby cause she knows I enjoy it and it is relaxing for me. Although she remarks that she doesn’t know why I need to have so many...

My wife does not smoke. She is not sure why I enjoy it, as to her, cigars hold absolutely no fascination nor enjoyment to her. She doesn't complain about my smoking, but we have an agreement that all smoking is done on the front porch or back deck. (Not sure yet how I'm going to handle the winter season.) She doesn't question my cigar purchases, but I'm also careful to keep my spending somewhat in check and not go overboard. I suppose, though, she doesn't really want to know how much the contents of my humidor are worth - kind of like she probably doesn't really want know how much the contents of the gun safe are worth either!

Every few months she'll enjoy a cigar with me. Shes a big fan of Padron Maduro. We both prefer Nicaraguan cigars and are generally on the same page about what we enjoy.

My wife enjoys infused cigars and occasionally a higher end cigar such as a Davidoff, but she always tries what I smoke!

Her favorite cigar would be Acid Cold Fusion as it reminds her of sweet tea!

My wife doesn’t smoke cigars. Currently, she is pregnant with our first child, and during this pregnancy, I’ve began to explore the cigar world a bit more.

She does love coffee, however, but isn’t particularly fond of the aroma of a lit cigar. Maybe in a couple of months she might give it a puff or two and she what she thinks. Her only requirements for me are that I maintain self control and refrain from sacrificing time and money on this hobby that rightfully belongs to her.

She doesn't smoke but occasionally will have something sweet like an Acid Blondie with me. She actually asked if I had a cigar on me at dinner the other day but unfortunately I didnt since she hardly every asks and hates when I smoke in the house lol

Every now and then shell take a wee puff just to humor me, but she abhors the thought of smoking cigars

Very, very rarely.  But we do not smoke the same stuff... She prefers much more mild cigars with no pepper/spice.  I like the full-bodied pepper bombs.  Just personal preference

Wife doesn't smoke cigars but has no problem being around when I smoke. Her only rule is I can't smoke inside the house.

Mine smokes menthol cigarettes and in my opinion has the worst after affect oder on the planet. I’ve tried to convert her, but not successfully. Even tried letting her smoke a Acid Roam. I haven’t smoked an infused cigar in almost a decade but I remember that being my favorite beginner cigar. That and Cold Infusion Tea.

My wife has taken a few puffs from the cigar I’m smoking at the time on a few occasions. Each occurrence was preceded by more than one alcoholic beverage having been consumed by her.

My wife has smoked sweetened cigarillos before. She smoked half of an acid that I got for free before. Sometimes she’ll say whatever I’m smoking smells nice, but she mostly tells me I stink.

Hubby  doesn’t smoke cigars, cigarettes, or a pipe.  I have no idea what he thinks about my smoking cigars, he just basically ignores it all. I asked him once if he wanted to sit around the fire and have a cigar and a bourbon with me, he replied “Why would I want to do that? “, he’s not a drinker, either.   He’s not judgmental, just disinterested.  It could be worse, he could be a nag about my purchases !

My girlfriend is a cigarette smoker that has recently discovered her love of cigars. Taste wise, she is like me, mood driven, and likes the entire spectrum from Acids to full body/strength like a BLTC Bishops Blend. She has told me I need to move my in-home lounge to a larger space in the house, se we can add a walk-in humi to expand our collection!

Wife doesnt smoke, but I will occasionally offer for her to try and she will take the smallest puff lol but now that she is pregnant, that's not going to be happening for a while lol
